making exercise fun this easter

The Easter holidays are coming and we all know how hard it is the keep the kids entertained and stop them from complaining they are bored stuck in the house. With two weeks for most of them off school depending on where you are that leaves lots of free time to fill up with activities. The good news is it doesn’t have to cost a lot, and there are lots of cheap ways to get the kids out and about, and also with the start of spring and better weather, it’s the perfect time to head outdoors.

With this in mind there is no better way to incorporate some exercise for yourself and your kids by making it fun and also getting to enjoy the improving weather. I know a lot of people put their children before themselves so while your making sure they are entertained and getting some physical activity it is the perfect opportunity for you to get involved which can be a good substitute to a gym session or going for a walk that you may not be motivated to do.

So with it being Easter, all kids are going to be dying to do an Easter egg hunt. This is quick and easy to set up and should keep them suitably entertained. You can choose to just hide the eggs around the home or garden, or if you want to make it a bit harder and make it last a bit longer you can set up a treasure hunt in a local park where they have more ground to cover and have the kids answer and work out clues to locate the eggs. Having a time limit and making it a race to find the eggs encourages everyone to get running.

If you have a garden now is the time to make good use of it. Why not set up a mini sports day for the kids? This will get them outside in the fresh air and away from their screens and also they love a good healthy competition. You can do things like an egg and spoon race, skipping competitions and obstacle courses. Think back to what you used to do at school and set this up at home.

Also, have a look for outdoor sports places where kids can play football or basketball or tennis. Using the school holidays is a great way to introduce a new sport to your family. Something you all enjoy and can take part in together. Grab your Head tennis shoes and head down to your local tennis court for a few hours and see if that is something you all may want to take up. Tennis is a great one as you can play in pairs or play doubles and get everyone involved, you can even switch up the teams have have some playful competition.

Make use of your local park and open spaces. These are free activities you can do and they get you exploring places you haven’t been to before. Packing up a picnic and going to sit in the park and woods is a great way to spend the day and kids are great at finding their own amusement and running around in places like this.

Once you’re all knackered out you can check your local area to see what Easter events are on in your area. many of these are free or a small donation to enter and have fun arts and crafts for the kids to do. Depending on the type of events in your area these can also include things like Easter bonnet making, bouncy castles, face paint and local stalls to buy things from. Easter arts and crafts are also another great way to spend an afternoon having some quality time with the kids.
