The dream kitchen; 2 key beauty aspects

(To me.) These are the aspects of a kitchen that are most important to me when creating a space I love, they work together in harmony to create what I would describe as my dream kitchen.

Claiming something is the ‘dream’ anything is a very bold claim indeed but if it’s your dream then it’s for you to decide. However what if the dream anything is made up of a few simple aspects? When talking about interior design, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You create dream room to fit your vision or an already existing aesthetic in your home. I want to focus specifically on kitchens in this post because that is what I am currently shopping for so wanted to share some of my thoughts and my vision with you all.

what a “dream kitchen” is…

As with anything your dream kitchen will be exactly the same as a few and vastly different to many. And that is based heavily on the fact that different aspects will sit on different rungs of the priority ladder for different people.

to me… Decor

For example, one of the most important things to me is being able to incorporate nature in any room in my house. Whether that is by creating the perfect environment that will allow me to bring more tropical houseplants into my home especially to live in and add life to my kitchen, or by choosing decor and/or appliances that fit the nature theme like a focus on natural materials like wood and stone.

When entering a kitchen, the first thing I notice is the kitchen worktops, They always catch my eye and in my own kitchen it’s the place I use the most when doing practical tasks but also where any decor will be displayed. I like nice clean lines in a kitchen and I don’t like things to be too busy so I prefer something simple like solid wood or granite worktops.

I am a huge plant person so I’m sure it’s no surprise that my kitchen will be just as filled with plants as the rest of my home. Having living nature around fills me with joy so along with as many natural materials as possible I also decorate with a variety of plants and crystals.

space

Adding to this, I like for my counter tops to have as little clutter as possible so space is a very important requirement for me. I want to be able to put away any small appliances that won’t be used on a daily basis and for this I need a lot of cupboard space. Space in general is a key aspect in a kitchen when looking for a home especially when you have an idea of what you want to fill it with. For example adding a Range and an huge American fridge freezer isn’t going to be possible in many kitchens, especially in the UK.

If you love to cook and entertain you can never have too much space. Friends and family all gathered around in and out of the kitchen, sharing the cooking, having a few drinks and appetisers. It’s wonderful way to entertain and having enough room to cook and socialise at the same time can’t be beat and is very important to me as I have a large family and we all love to cook and eat. Caribbean families love to gather around food and cooking and we definitely need the space to make that happen.

Dream kitchen

There are so many other aspects that could make up a dream kitchen to someone else but these are the ones that take precedence for me. I know people that have to have good lighting in their dream kitchen because they blog about cooking and healthy meals so having good lighting is essential for them. I know that for some people they want that rustic cottage feel so are majorly put off by big imposing steel appliances.

Whatever it is that you want from a kitchen that will make it perfect for you, keep that in mind and if you can’t find it, create it. If you spend a lot of time in your kitchen you will want to make it space that makes you happy and a place you want to be. I know when I love a kitchen, cooking is never a chore. I love using all my tools and appliances that I hand picked to make me dream come true.

What does a dream kitchen look like to you?
